A former blacksmith's forge dating from 1867, the property lay derelict until 2006 when Bakewell & Partners converted the building into its new head office. Transforming the building from its abandoned and dilapidated state, we introduced mezzanine galleries to take advantage of the available internal height, planned the new spaces around a preserved king-post roof truss and added kitchen and disabled WC facilities to the rear to satisfy modern office standards. The works were partially funded by a conservation grant secured from the Belper & Milford Townscape Heritage Initiative.
